Oh hey there! The weather has warmed up a bit, so it maybe kind of feels like spring. Then again, as I got out of my car in Bennington this morning I stepped onto slick, icy surfaces. So you know, we’ll get there one day.
As you may or may not notice in my photo (most likely not, let’s be real) I have a new iPhone 5c! Exciting times, as I conveniently dropped my phone in the toilet right when my old Verizon contract was up. Signing up with Sprint was quite the adventure and I got signed up with a plan that felt kind of sketchy but was persuaded (by the salesman AND store owner) to believe will be fine… so uhhh check back with me in a few months on that one.
This was very much a Monday morning, recovering from an insane weekend, and I was too busy to take a picture. Instead I accidentally pet my cat with makeup still in my palm, so cleaning her up and running out the door took priority. I probably won’t take pics for the rest of the week either since it’s cold and dumb and next week should be nicer. But here I leave you with a picture from the weekend of said insanity. We had a friend’s fundraiser Friday night where things got wild… and then Jeremy didn’t know Saturday would also be crazy as I was planning his surprise birthday party. Even after running 18 miles he managed to rock out and celebrate (and was completely surprised! I thought I had been too obvious haha).
Well, since it’s technically the first day of spring I figured some color was in order. We had hail and sleet last night and my commute was all rain and dark clouds this morning. But hey, it’s spring! Right? …right?! Luckily I remembered at the last minute that I’m doing cat care training at the humane society after work and brought a change of clothes. Not sure how involved it’ll be but I know from experience with my furry friend that tights and black clothing don’t last long with cats.
It’s cold, and I’m bored with clothing. Yeah, I knew this would happen. We MIGHT be getting warmer but otherwise getting dressed is just not that exciting when I’m mainly concerned with wearing enough to stay warm in the office. No good stories to share. Although I do like my pink sweater quite a bit.
I was definitely not feeling this at all this morning. I fell asleep with my reading light on and the return of the more bitter cold along with dark mornings has made waking up, especially on Monday mornings, a challenge. I can tell immediately my creativity dips when it’s cold, and today was definitely just about warmth and some layers. Although a nice plaid never hurt anyone. And luckily the new WTF episode was with Lena Dunham this morning, which I am really digging. I enjoy reading about and from her, and yet I’ve still never seen Girls. If only it were on Netflix…
And now I’m realizing I wore this cardigan on Friday too. UGH THANKS A LOT BLOG. I swear I washed it this weekend.
PS I’m now booting up and realizing it’s also St. Paddy’s Day. I celebrated this weekend and it didn’t even occur to me to wear green today. Oh well.
Nothing to ramble about today really, except how amazing it is that after yesterday’s terrible morning commute the roads have been completely fine. The weekend is supposed to see some warming up (40 degrees feels magical), so I’m happy.
The freezing rain started last night, and by the morning the roads where covered in snow. It wasn’t a lot, but it was enough to make my commute a bit rough. Traveling 30 miles to Vermont, while following a chain of extra-slow-going cars, and trying not to die in the process is not my favorite kind of morning. It’s also in the single and negative digits again, so I can tell you I gave almost no thought to what I put on except OMG LAYERS. After almost 1.5 hours on the road I made it to work, and I can only hope the roads will be clearer at the end of the day. It’ll really be spring one of these days, right?
This morning started out so well. I was riding the high of yesterday’s warmth, and I slept well, and it was still deceptively warm this morning. Then I smacked myself in the head while feeding the cat, by quickly standing up into an open cabinet door. I think that’s an apt parallel to how it will feel when this warmth and mild rain turns into sleet and many inches of snow this afternoon. It’s annoying, but I’m trying not to be too bah-humbug about it. So I put on my favorite new colorful shirt and my awesome sweater vest, and now I’m ready to take on the world! Or at least route 7.
